John founded Borland Insurance Ltd in 2006 becoming the business CEO. Prior to its sale to AssuredPartners in 2021, John had grown the business to become one of the largest independent brokerages in the UK. John’s insurance career began after graduating from The University of Stirling with a degree in Political Science in 1995 and he joined the US global insurer Chubb Corporations where he worked in a variety of roles for a decade.

Bruce Law
Director

Bruce started with Borland Insurance in February 2014, joining the team by heading up the North Division in Scotland before being appointed a Director in May 2017. His career began with the Commercial Union in 1984 within their Property Underwriting Department before moving into the Commercial Broking sector. These various roles have gained Bruce vital experience across all classes of business insurance.

Steve Watson
Director

Steve joined Borland Insurance in August 2013 and was then appointed a Director in February 2016. He is currently responsible for the South Division of the Business but has worked within the insurance industry since 2000 with experience as an underwriter and experience in commercial broking. Steve has valuable experience working with both independent and national brokers.

Fiona Reid
Claims Director

Fiona joined Borland Insurance as the Commercial Manager before moving into her claims focused role as the Claims Director in 2015. She has completed both her ACII and CILA Diploma qualifications that accompany her extensive experience working for both national and independent brokers within various classes of business including casualty, property, professional/financial risks, marine and private clients.
